A harmonious blend of classic European elegance and Australian charm,... Blending authentic Cantonese traditions with contemporary flair, HUA introduces a new chapter of Chinese dining in Brisbane’s premium restaurant scene.... Australia’s first 6-star Rosewood hotel and the grandeur of one of city’s most iconic heritage hotels, the Treasury Hotel, are coming soon. The Star Brisbane features The Star’s own 5-star hotel offering The Star Grand, and a contemporary 4.5-star hotel for business and leisure travellers, Dorsett Brisbane. The wad is a jarring site for a humble journalist not used to getting access to the high-roller room at a major casino. From late August into September, and throughout the remainder of 2024, new restaurants, bars, public spaces and other destinations will commence trading. But Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch said it would be exciting for the community to have a new offering every time they visit. The staged opening of the Queens Wharf hub in the city’s CBD began on Thursday, offering the Star Grand Hotel and casino, Sky Deck public viewing platform, event centre and bikeway. The next phase, starting early next year, will involve further multi-staged openings, including the Dorsett and Rosewood hotel tower and luxury retail. The full 7.5 hectares of public space will open progressively from there, including the upgraded Bicentennial Bikeway and newly created green space, The Landing. The Terrace dining on level four – Cucina Regina (Italian), Azteca by Potentia Solutions Leisure (Latin American), Ghanem Group’s Luc Lac (Asian fusion) and other eateries – will also open during this first phase.
New dining and leisure experiences have already been announced for The Star Brisbane, including new live entertainment venue LiveWire. The new precinct on the edge of Brisbane River will experience multi-phase openings, with The Star Brisbane at the heart of the 12-hectare space. Azteca will join other unique dining experiences at Queen’s Wharf, including Black Hide by Gambaro, Cucina Regina, Sokyo Brisbane, and Luke Nguyen’s Fat Noodle, as part of The Star Brisbane’s staged opening starting in August. Its 250-metre Sky Deck, soaring 100 metres above the river, has quickly become one of the city’s most iconic drawcards, offering spectacular dining, bars and panoramic views. "We want to ensure our team members are prepared, our facilities have been tested, our processes are right, and our guests have an exceptional experience they will talk about and come back to experience again," says Finch.
That also means returning guests will find something new to experience, not just here at The Star but also across both sides of the river." The multi-phase opening of The Star Brisbane means more exciting announcements will come in the back half of 2024. "LiveWire will be one of our first venues to open, supporting and enhancing the growth of Brisbane’s nighttime entertainment economy. "Public spaces will be among the first areas to open and that includes the viewing platform on Sky Deck, Miller Park and Neville Bonner Bridge linking Queen’s Wharf to South Bank. The Star Brisbane is set to unveil its first phase of attractions at the $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf precinct, releasing a list of cultural, culinary and entertainment features that will open on 29 August, 2024. "We’ve bolstered our teams in the anti-money laundering area, the counter-terrorism financial area. The Neville Bonner pedestrian bridge connects Queen’s Wharf Brisbane with South Bank’s cultural precinct, providing access to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Gallery of Modern Art and the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Launching Thursday, 8 May, 8am - 2pm, Brisbane City Markets brings its signature vibrancy to the city’s newest destination — This luxury 5-star haven offers direct access to world-class restaurants, bars, shopping, and entertainment in the CBD.... Say ‘bonjour’ to a chic bar and restaurant offering a fresh approach to French-style dining.... This new world-class precinct places Brisbane on the map as a tourism, leisure and entertainment destination. Below, the 12,000sqm open-air Leisure Deck, perched 37 metres above street level, delivers resort-style amenities, event space and expansive lawns overlooking the city skyline. Positioned at the heart of the multi-billion-dollar Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, The Star Brisbane commenced its staged opening IN August 2024 – redefining Brisbane’s riverfront as a world-class tourism, entertainment and lifestyle destination. The Star Brisbane has previously announced venues such as the Sports Bar, Fat Noodle restaurant by celebrity chef Luke Nguyen, Japanese establishment Sokyo, and Cherry bar, which will all open from day one.
The Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch said that this announcement was the first of many to come acknowledging the staged opening approach, and emphasised the importance of readiness and exceptional guest experiences. Originally slated for a late 2022 opening, the project’s timeline was extended due to COVID-19 related setbacks, pushing the date first to 2023, then to April 2024, and finally to August 29. The opening phase will unveil a host of exciting attractions and facilities, positioning Queen’s Wharf as a major drawcard for both locals and tourists.
On 5 April 2016, eligible shareholders were sent a letter together with a Share Retention Form (for the Small Holding Sale Facility) or a Sale Instruction Form (for the Voluntary Share Sale Facility), and Terms and Conditions for the relevant share sale facility. The Star Entertainment Group announced on 5 April 2016 share sale facilities that provided eligible small shareholders the opportunity to sell their shares without incurring any brokerage or handling costs. The Trans and gender-diverse communities are starting to feel vulnerable, so let’s continue to work on making The Star a safe and inclusive place for everyone, esp., for trans and gender-diverse team members. Without the dedication of the Proud team, we would never have been able to achieve what we had. It was an absolute joy to see the collaboration from all the stakeholders and how their team welcomed them with open arms. Secondly, I was invited to help reintroduce a team member who was affirming their gender to their department.
In turn, I aspired to be that source of encouragement and affirmation for others, fostering an environment where authenticity is celebrated and safeguarded. My journey with Spectrum/Proud began during the marriage plebiscite, a time that placed the LGBTQI+ communities under intense scrutiny. I have been part of the company for over 21 years, serving in various capacities. Together, The Star Brisbane and the broader Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct attracts over 1 million visitors to the city each year. The Star Brisbane is home to the five-star The Star Grand Brisbane, a vibrant collection of restaurants and bars, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre – including Brisbane’s largest hotel ballroom.
A show-cause notice on Star's casino licence was initially deferred until December 2023, then deferred again to December this year to allow the company to develop an internal remediation plan. Then-Queensland attorney-general Shannon Fentiman appointed Nick Weeks as special manager to oversee Star after the company was deemed unsuitable to hold a casino licence. "Queen's Wharf will be the biggest new integrated resort development to open in the world for years to come. On the Neville Bonner Bridge yesterday morning, Mr Miles declared Queen's Wharf would be "an incredible experience". From 5pm, the much-vaunted Sky Deck, offering expansive views of the river, CBD and South Brisbane, opens to the public, along with the first of three restaurants on the deck level. From today, access is open to the Neville Bonner Bridge from South Bank to Queen's Wharf. Many of the spaces remain a work in progress.
